How To Use Options To Make Earnings Predictions
Campbell Soup. Digital Realty Trust. International Flavors.
Dollar General. Best Buy. Let's consider options that expire in 30 days. The "customary" implied volatility for these options is 30 to 33, but right now buying demand is high and the IV is pumped The news is good. Not surprisingly, there are no longer many option buyers. In fact, the majority of those who bought options yesterday want to take their profits today.
Why is the revised volatility estimate so low? Because there are no more news events pending before the options expire. In other words, there is no reason to expect that the stock will be any more volatile than usual. In fact, once the stock price finds its new, post-earnings level, it may be far less volatile than that. Yesterday there was a known event that could move the stock price. Today that is no longer true. Thus, options have lost much of their appeal. If I were that option owner, I'd be very disappointed.
Buying options when IV is 55 and selling when it is 30 is a sure way to lose money. But the implied volatility was crushed to 30, and that 'extra' dollar' was never available. Or not knowing the meaning of Greek variables? The proven methods and pieces of knowledge are so easy to follow. It isn't worth the words to describe how bad it is. The parade of five star "reviews" should have been the tipoff. Then wrote the Advanced Book. I'm still waiting on the 'advanced'. This was nothing more than terminology that I already knew. I want my money back.
The book is not advanced, nor complete, contained no "secret strategies" for investing in anything, was poorly recorded and even more poorly edited. Other than that, it was a completely marginal and basic examination of investing with a nod toward options trading. You can tell that Neil Sharp has put in lot of thought and hard work in creating this simple yet very information packed piece audiobook for his listeners to indulge upon.
I am amazed at how well this audiobook was written, the teachings are clear to understand and at no point did i get confused with what the narrator was saying. In fact i actually loved it so much that i stayed up all night listening to the entire audiobook. The one thing in my opinion that sets this audiobook apart from the competition is how good the audio quality is, what i find with all of the other options trading audiobooks that i have listened to is that you become disconnect with the audiobook as how dull the narrators voice is.
Robotically narrated and so far zero strategies. Just a lot of useless information anyone looking for advanced option trading should already know. Like where to purchase a mutual fund. My god did Neil Nail it on this one, the information inside is so powerful i feel like that it has defiantly transformed my life. So much in fact after i recap on the notes i took when listening to this audiobook i am going to put them into action.
