Anton obtained a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Natal and has over 18 years commodity experience within global commodity merchants and fund management. Being located in the US, Switzerland and South Africa during the 13 years with LDC, Anton headed trading desks covering various global agricultural commodities, where he was responsible for trading decisions, risk management and investment strategies.
He oversaw the trading and risk management of the global exchange traded business and was tasked to grow ETG Group activities from a regional player in Africa to a global agribusiness trading company. Anton was portfolio manager on the Barak Shanta Commodity Fund from March to February , where he implemented trading strategies and risk management.
Anton Joined PolarStar Management in September as an integral part of the fundamental investment research team. He has half a dozen publications in influential peer-reviewed academic journals. In May , Mauritz joined the PolarStar Management investment team, focusing on quantitative analysis and research.
He assumed the responsibility of Senior Dealer on the commodity desk in and he was appointed Head of the Agricultural Commodity desk in His responsibilities included the supervision of the proprietary trading, broking and the FNB Grain Hub retail trading and hedging functions. Abdul holds a degree in Astrophysics, as well as Honours with distinction in Applied Mathematics.
